Panaji, March 18: Manohar Parrikar, considered as one of the finest politicians of Bharatiya Janata party, died on Sunday following a prolonged illness which he borne for over a year. Manohar Parrikar Funeral Procession, Last Rites Live News UpdatesFollowing the death of former defence minister, the centre announced national mourning on Monday, declaring the Indian Flag will fly half-mast across the country. Goa has also announced a seven-day state mourning after the Chief Minister's death. All the examinations have been postponed and all the school, colleges, and educational institutions will be shut today in the state. Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Postpones Monday’s Exam, Reschedules it to March 29.

According to Goa Chief Minister Office (CMO), the body of 63-year-old BJP leader will be kept at BJP head office, Panjim from 9:30 am to 10:30 am after which the body will be shifted to Kala Academy in Panaji for people to pay their final respects to the CM. The CM's body will be kept for final respects till 4 pm after which the final journey i.e funeral procession to Panaji's Miramar area will be held. The last rites will be performed at 5 pm at SAG grounds in Campal area.

President Ram Nath Kovind, first one to pay his condolences, said, "Extremely sorry to hear of the passing of Shri Manohar Parrikar, Chief Minister of Goa, after an illness borne with fortitude and dignity. An epitome of integrity and dedication in public life, his service to the people of Goa and of India will not be forgotten."
