New Delhi, August 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed his monthly radio programme “Mann ki Baat” at 11 AM and shared his thoughts with the people in India and abroad. In his radio programme on All India Radio today, the Prime Minister extended his greetings to the nation on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan and spoke about the power of Sanskrit language and its link with the Indian culture. It must be noted that this will be PM Modi's 47th episode of the monthly radio programme.
The programme was broadcasted on All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan at 11 AM. It will also be streamed on the YouTube channels of the Prime Minister's Office, Information and Broadcasting Ministry, AIR and DD News and AIR's mobile App.
Here are the Key Highlights of the 47th edition of Mann ki Baat:
- PM Modi begins his address by greeting people of the nation on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Sanskrit Diwas and Janmashtami.
- On the occasion of Sanskrit Day today, a student named Chinmayi asks PM Modi to talk about the Sanskrit Language. On this, the Prime Minister said, "Greetings to all those who are associated with the Sanskrit language. This language is deeply connected with our culture". He said there is a strong link between knowledge and Sanskrit.
- "Sanskrit Subhashitas help articulating things. Here is how a Guru has been described in Sanskrit. I also convey greetings on Teacher's Day", Modi said.
- The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of teachers in our society. He said knowledge and teacher are priceless. "We will celebrate this Teacher’s Day keeping this thought in mind. I congratulate all the teachers on the upcoming Teacher’s Day", he added.
- PM Modi spoke about the recent floods that caused a havoc in Kerala. The Prime Minister said, the whole nation stands by Kerala which has been hit by floods. "I assure the families of the flood-hit state that 125 crore Indians stand by them at this time", he said.
- The Prime Minister also appreciated the forces and various teams that are working towards relief work in Kerala. "India stands shoulder to shoulder with the people of Kerala in this hour of grief. Our condolences are with the people who have lost their loved ones in the Kerala Floods", PM Modi said.
- Talking about Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Modi said Atal Ji brought a very distinctive and positive change in India's political culture. "It was decided during the tenure of PM Vajpayee to fix the size of Council of Ministers to 15% of the size of the State Assemblies. Atal Ji also made the anti-defection law stricter", PM Modi said.
- The Prime Minister also spoke about the monsoon session of the Parliament being fruitful. "We witnessed a productive monsoon session, for which I congratulate MP colleagues. This was a session devoted to social justice and youth welfare", PM Modi said.
- The Prime Minister congratulated the athletes for their stellar performance during the ongoing Asian Games. "The eyes of the nation are on Jakarta. We are proud of the medal winners in the 2018 Asian Games and wish those whose events are left the very best", PM Modi said.
- During his address, the Prime Minister also extended greetings to the community of engineers and lauded their efforts towards nation building.
During his 46th radio address on July 29, the Prime Minister had praised the team effort showcased in Thai cave rescue operation, where a soccer team that was trapped inside the cave for days, was saved. On July 8, 11 teenage boys and the football coach of the Wild Boars soccer team which was trapped inside Tham Luang cave in Thailand for days, without food and water was rescued. Addressing the nation, PM Modi said that the sense of responsibility displayed during the entire operation was amazing. The Prime Minister lauded the efforts of the rescuers and the authorities in the operation and said that "everyone got involved in the rescue mission like a team".
In his last address, he also urged people of the nation to use eco-friendly material for the Ganesh Utsav celebrations. "Right from Ganesh idol to all decorative material everything ought to be eco friendly and I will appreciate that separate competitions be organised in each city, prizes be awarded for these, and I will like that eco-friendly item related to Ganesh Utsav are displayed for wider publicity on My Gov and Narendra Modi App," he said.
