New Delhi, July 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Sunday via the 46th edition of his monthly radio show - Mann Ki Baat. Modi spoke on an array of topics, ranging from the ongoing Kharif season of farming to the demise of poet Neeraj Gopal Das, and the accolade earned by Indian sprinter Hima Das. Message for students: Modi said this is the most crucial time of the year for farmers and the youth. By the latter, he referred to students who have enrolled in universities for various courses. "Your journey in life is now beginning. You are coming out of the protected environment of your village and neighbourhood. I recommend you to stay calm, focused and steadfast towards your goals. Education is the most important aspect of our life," he said.
Narrating a story of inspiration, Modi told the nation how Asaram Chowdhary of Madhya Pradesh cleared the MBBS from AIIMS Jodhpur in first attempt, despite being raised in a humble background with his father working as a ragpicker.
Condoles poet neeraj Gopal Das's death: "Recently, famous poet Neeraj ji passed away. He always exuded hope, faith, resolve confidence. We can draw a lot of inspiration from him," Modi said.
Smartgaon App: Modi shared with the nation the achievement of two Indian-origin youths in the United States who have developed the game-changing Smartgaon App, which has brought convenience in the lives of rural populace.
"When I visited San Jose (US), I appealed to Indian youth there to find ways to help India through technology.Two IT professionals from Raebareli accepted challenge,developed a SmartGaon App,with this villagers can get all information on their mobiles phones," Modi added.
Eco-Friendly Ganesh Utsav: Modi said he would appeal the nation through his mobile applications to opt for eco-friendly Ganesh Utsav as it is "essential to save mother nature".
Before concluding his address, Modi also appealed the nation to honour the achievement of Hima Das, the "daughter of a farmer" who brought recognition to India at the global level by winning the Gold Medal at the World Junior Athletics Championships.
