New Delhi, October 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed people of the nation through is monthly radio address 'Mann ki Baat'. This is the Prime Minister's 49th episode of the monthly programme. In his address, the Prime Minister remembered the contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and urged the nation to organise a ‘Run for Unity’ marathon, on his birth anniversary on October 31. For last few years, a ‘Run for Unity’ is organised on October 31 on his birth anniversary. In 2017, Prime Minister Modi flagged off this run to commemorate the 142nd birth anniversary of Sardar Patel. Watch Live Streaming of the radio programme here.

The Prime Minister said Sardar Patel's Jayanti this year will be even more special as on this day, the nation will pay him true homage by dedicating 'Statue of Unity' to the nation. The statue, located by the banks of river Narmada, the height of this idol is twice that of America's renowned 'Statue of Liberty'.

  4. The Prime Minister said that this year too, India is fortunate to be the hosts of the Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018 in Bhubaneshwar. He said the Hockey World Cup will commence on November 28 and concluded on December 16.
  5. Remembering Sardar Patel's contribution to the nation, Modi said that on the 27th of January, 1947, the world-famous international Magazine ‘TIME’ had a photograph of Sardar Patel on the cover page of that edition.
  6. I was privileged to meet the talented para-athletes who participated in Asian Para Games held in Jakarta. Their spirit to overcome all adversaries is exemplary and inspiring. India created a new record in these games by winning 72 medals: PM Modi.
  7. The Prime Minister also remembered  Indira Gandhi and said October 31 is also is the death anniversary of our former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. My respectful tributes to her too: PM Modi
  8. Talking about ‘Infantry Day’, PM Modi said, "We celebrated the Infantry Day yesterday. I respectfully bow before all of them who are part of the Indian Armed Forces. I also salute the families of our soldiers", said PM Modi
  9. In his address, the Prime Minister said that he also met winners of the Summer Youth Olympics 2018 held in Argentina. "In Summer Youth Olympics, the performance of our youth was the best ever. At this event we won 13 medals besides 3 in the mixed event", he said.
  10. A few days ago Sikkim won prestigious Future Policy Gold Award, 2018 for encouraging sustainable food system. This award is given by UN body ‘Food & Agriculture Organisation’ – FAO. This best policy-making award is equivalent to Oscar.
  11. The Prime Minister said this year November 11 holds special significance as the day when World War-I ended 100 years ago. "Our soldiers fought with valour & gave supreme sacrifice and showed the world that they are second to none when it comes to war", Modi added.

The programme will be broadcast on the entire network of AIR and Doordarshan. In his 48th radio address in September, the Prime Minister had paid tribute to the Indian Armed Forces and had said that there must be hardly any Indian who does not feel proud of the forces.

The programme will also be streamed on the YouTube channels of the Prime Minister's Office, Information and Broadcasting Ministry, AIR and DD News. It will be simultaneously broadcast on AIR's website www.allindiaradio.gov.in.  For those who have missed, All India Radio will broadcast the programme in regional languages immediately after the Hindi broadcast. The regional language versions will be repeated at 8 PM.
