New Delhi, September 23: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, along with teams of the excise department, on Monday, conducted raids at illegal alcohol shops allegedly being run in the garb of departmental stores across the national capital. During the raid, Manish Sisodia and the excise department officials busted two departmental stores in Karol Bagh area which were functioning as illegal liquor shops. Manish Sisodia Says 'No New Liquor Store in Delhi Since 2016'.

The two stores where surprise inspection was conducted were possessing liquor beyond the permissible limit of 15 percent. Illicit alcohol was being sold at these stores in the disguise of departmental stores. One of the stores had 95 percent alcohol, said Sisodia's social media coordinator. In a tweet, Sisodia also informed that raids were conducted across Delhi against illegal sale of liquor at departmental stores. Manish Sisodia Meets Ankit Saxena's Family, Hands over Rs. 15 Lakh Cheque.

The stores were seized by the excise department in presence of Sisodia. The raids were carried out at departmental stores in areas including Karol Bagh, Janakpuri, Azadpur, Jahangirpuri, Dwarka, Kailash Colony, and Govindpuri among others. The video of surprise inspection was shared by Sisodia's social media coordinator on Twitter.

In September, the excise department had raided a high-profile restaurant in Qutub Minar area and found out that the outlet was serving non-duty paid liquor. During the raid, it was also found out that 12 bottles of champagne Dom Perigon Vintage 2004 - were being illegally used for sale in Haryana.
