Mangaluru. September 26: An LIC agent in Mangaluru, identified as Manjunath, was beaten up by three individuals after a communal debate sparked off between them. The incident of violence was reported on Wednesday at a popular mall in the Karnataka city. After a police complaint was registered by the victim, the accused, including a minor, were arrested. The victim has been identified as Manjunath from Bantwal region, said Mangalore Police Commissioner PS Harsha. The top cop further appealed the reporters to not to sensationalise or further communalise the issue. This should be considered as a simple law and order case, and the police will act appropriately against those involved, he said.
The accused has been identified as Mohiyuddin Safwan and Abdul Rahim Saad, whereas, the third among them is a juvenile. The minor will be dealt with as per the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act, Harsha said.
