Raipur, April 30: A man was strangled to death allegedly after he complained about the quantity of food served at the wedding to guests from the groom's side. The incident took place in Chhattisgarh's Dhamtari a week ago. The deceased was identified as 25-year-old Ved Prakash Sahu whose body was tied to a bag filled with small rocks and thrown in Gangrel dam. The body was recovered on last May 28.
According to the police, Sahu had complained that he and some guests from the groom's side had been served small portions of food at the wedding. A heated argument had then broken out between Sahu and the bride’s brother, Hitesh, and two of his friends, Khomesh and Deepak. On some elders' intervention, the matter appeared to have been resolved. However, another brawl broke out when the four met the next day for other rituals. Following the argument, Sahu walked out of the venue towards Gangrel dam. Hitesh and his friends followed him, Times of India reported. The accused hit Sahu on the head with a rock and strangled him to death, the police said. They tied his body to a bag of small rocks and threw him into the dam. Almost a week later, some tourists noticed a foul smell emanating from Gangrel dam.
The tourists were shocked to find a decomposed body floating in the water. A post-mortem report confirmed that Sahu was strangled to death. Hitesh and his friends have been arrested.
