Bhopal, February 4: The police found a six-month-old decomposed body from a flat in Bhopal’s Bagsewania area on Sunday evening. The body was recovered from a bed box inside the flat which was locked since June last year. It is not yet clear whether the body is that of a man or a woman. According to a report published in Hindustan Times, apart from the arms and legs, none of the other body parts were intact. Forensic officials believed that the body had not decomposed as it was not in the open and the mattress and blanket had soaked up the body fluids which limited the release of any foul odour. The police are waiting for the post-mortem and DNA test but they believed it to be a murder case. An investigation has been initiated in the case and the police have started searching for the p[revious owners of the flat. The body had not decamped. Instead, it had become mummified. According to the report, The third floor flat where the body was found belongs to Vimla Shrivastava and her son Amit. She worked as a clerk in the transport department. They belonged to Gwalior. Amit was not seen by neighbours since June 2018. Ramvir Singh Rajput, a resident of Nehru Nagar who purchased the flat from Vimla recovered the body on Sunday evening. Rajput was not given immediate possession by Vimla for almost six months, after which he opened the flat with a duplicate key. He immediately informed the police. According to the report, after selling the flat in July, Shrivastavas sought time to vacate the flat, but Rajput could not contact them after that.
