New Delhi, Jul 11: A man was arrested for allegedly beating up a 17-year-old girl at a mobile shop in southeast Delhi's Jaitpur, the police said today. The accused and the girl were probably in a relationship and the accused doubted her for having affair with another man who worked in the mobile shop, they added.
The accused had earlier warned the girl against visiting the mobile shop but she defied the warning. After learning that the girl visited the shop again, he reached the shop and thrashed her, they said. The accused was identified as Satendra Bhatti while the victim is a minor and has been living with her family in Delhi's Jaitpur area, he said.
The victim knew the accused for some months now and they often spoke to each other. For a few days, Bhatti had been doubting the girl for her involvement with another youth who works in a mobile shop where she had been visiting frequently, the officer said. The accused had spotted the girl visiting the same mobile shop on last Saturday, they added.
The incident was captured on CCTV where the youth could be seen slapping and brutally thrashing the girl. He even pulled her hair and banged her head against the counter. Subsequently, a complaint was filed by the girl following which the youth was arrested.
