Man-Animal Conflict: Leopard Who Mauled Over 20 People, Killed by Rajaji Tiger Reserve Officials in Motichur Range
The man-animal conflict has claimed more lives in the past three years in Rajaji tiger reserve than in recent times.
Haridwar, July 12: A leopard that mauled 21 people to death in the past three years was killed by the forest officials of Rajaji tiger reserve in Motichur range on the night of July 10, reported news agency ANI. According to media reports, the man-eater leopard had killed a 56-year-old man on Monday, who was the latest and the last victim of the leopard.
The body of the man was found on Tuesday and a search operation was launched by the forest officials and the villagers to track down the killer leopard. The authorities informed after killing the leopard that over 20 people had lost their lives to the leopard. Vikas Rawat, range officer of Motichoor range, was quoted saying by a leading English daily that a search operation was launched on Monday and that teams were patrolling the area after news of 56-year-old, identified as Surat Singh, was killed by the leopard.
