Jaipur, January 15: Over 300 persons including children were admitted to hospitals in Jaipur due to kite related injuries, reported The Times of India. Over 220 patients were admitted in Sawai Man Singh (SMS) hospital’s Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics (ITO). According to the report, a total of 45 patients sustained serious injuries, and 41 people were injured due to string of kites. Bikers in the city also sustained injuries due to string. Meanwhile, Kite-flying claimed two lives and left a boy critically injured in separate incidents over the past two days in Hyderabad. An 11-year-old boy died after accidentally falling from the terrace of a three-storey building on Monday, while in another incident, a 27-year-old youth also fell to his death while flying a kite on the terrace of his house in Warasiguda area on Sunday. Nine-year-old Mohammed Abdul Rahman was also critically injured after he fell from the first floor of his house in Nampally area. Meanwhile, in Gujarat, three people including a child, were killed after their throats got slit by kite strings during Uttarayan festivities. Several others were injured in separate incidents across the state after falling off rooftops while flying kites. According to reports, as many as 117 persons were injured after falling from rooftops while flying kites in these four districts till Sunday evening. Birds were also harmed due to string used for flying kites. According to Vinay Shah, trustee of Jivdaya Charitable Trust, around 702 birds were rescued by the trust.

Several people were admitted to hospitals in Ludhiana due to kite related injuries. People of the city are blaming the government for not being able to put a check on Chinese string used to fly kites. Meanwhile, three accidents were also reported from Kolkata this year caused by a Chinese kite string.
