The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall across multiple districts in Maharashtra during the weekend of August 24-25. A red alert has been issued for Pune, while an orange alert has been announced for Mumbai, Thane, and other nearby districts, signalling the possibility of severe weather conditions.

Mumbai, August 24: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall across multiple districts in Maharashtra during the weekend of August 24-25. A red alert has been issued for Pune, while an orange alert has been announced for Mumbai, Thane, and other nearby districts, signalling the possibility of severe weather conditions.

Pune Weather Forecast

Pune is under a red alert, indicating extremely heavy rainfall is expected on August 24 and 25. Mumbai Weather Forecast

Mumbai is also on high alert. The IMD has issued an orange alert for the city, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall from August 24 onward. The weather is expected to remain unstable throughout the weekend, with the possibility of flooding and traffic disruptions.

Thane and Palghar Weather Forecast

Thane and surrounding areas like Raigad and Palghar are also expected to see significant rainfall as IMD has issued orange alert for these district. An orange alert indicates heavy rainfall exceeding 64.5 mm in 24 hours, with the potential to disrupt normal life and cause flooding in low-lying areas.

In addition to the Konkan region, heavy rainfall is also expected in Satara, Amravati, Bhandara, Chandrapur, and Gondia districts. A yellow alert has been issued for several districts in western Maharashtra and Marathwada, warning of thunderstorms, light-to-moderate rainfall, and gusty winds.

Meteorologist Manikrao Khule has forecasted a brief pause in rainfall from August 26, with temperatures rising before rain returns between August 31 and September 5.
