Mumbai, December 1: Several express trains arriving towards Mumbai on Saturday have been delayed by nearly two hours due to a derailment in Maharashtra. According to a tweet by ANI, the derailment of Tamping Machine (TTM) took place on the up line between Palghar and Kelwa Road stations. In the wake of the incident, all up direction trains arriving towards Mumbai are delayed by about 1 hour 30 minutes. West Bengal: Engine and Guard Coach of Empty Rake of Ispat Express Derails in Howrah Station.

Reports inform that two trains have been cancelled so far and nearly five trains have been short terminated. In June, a similar incident was reported from Maharashtra Igatpuri area where three coaches of the Mumbai-Howrah Mail train had derailed. No passenger was injured in the accident. Central Railway Ministry spokesperson Sunil Udasi was quoted by PTI saying that the three coaches - S-12, S-13, pantry car - of the Mumbai-Howrah Mail derailed just before entering platform at 2.05 am. Bihar: Three Coaches of Darbhanga-Kolkata Express Get Derailed Near Railway Crossing in Darbhanga. 

In July, a sleeper class coach of Madurai Express derailed at Khandala railway station on the Mumbai-Pune route. Nobody was injured in the incident,  although it led to the cancellation of four trains and diversion of another. "The incident occurred at 2.44 am when seating-cum- luggage rake (SLR) of 11043 LTT-Madurai Express derailed while entering platform no.1 of Khandala station, a senior official of the Central Railway (CR) said.
