Mumbai, April 2: Several areas of Maharashtra including Vidharbha and Marathawada will witness extremely hot summer this year during the the first half of the season, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said. "The April to June season average maximum temperatures are likely to be warmer than normal by 0.50 Celsius over most of the meteorological subdivisions from central India and some subdivisions from northwest India. Near normal maximum temperatures are likely in the remaining subdivisions", the IMD stated in its release. Mumbai Records Hottest Day of Season at 40 Degrees Celsius.  

According to Skymet Weather, Chandrapur in Maharashtra recorded to be the hottest city in India with a maximum temperature of 43.4 Degree Celsius on April 2. Chandrapur is followed by Parbhani which touched 42.6 Degrees, Beed with 42.5 degrees, Nanded recorded 42.5 Degrees, Amravati with 2.4 Degrees and Malegoan with 42.4 Degrees. Meanwhile, the Met department predicted that the minimum temperature will continue to increase next week. Mumbai Summer in March: City to Witness Rise in Temperature in Coming Days, Mercury to Touch 40 Degrees in Some Areas. 

The IMD in its release said that the season averaged maximum temperatures are likely to be warmer than normal over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi (HCD), Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, Vidharbha, Marathawada, Coastal Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema and Telangana. The weather agency informed that subdivisions from rest of the country are likely to experience near normal maximum temperatures.

The IMD has issued a heatwave warning for the Vidarbha region for the next five days and added that the heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in isolated pockets of Nashik, Ahmednagar, Beed and Parbhani districts on March 31 and April 1.
