According to media reports, the two deceased were identified as Neelima Ganesh Kapse, aged 45, and her son Ayush Kapse, aged 22. The incident came to light when the neighbours noticed an unpleasant smell emanating from the residence for a span of two days before finally reaching out to the victim's relatives. Upon arriving from Nagpur, the family members promptly contacted the authorities upon discovering the house was locked. During their investigation, the police found that the front door was locked from the inside, and the back door was sealed tightly. They had to break the seal to get inside the house. Once inside, they saw blood on the bed and a foul smell in the air. They then opened the bed box and discovered the bodies of the mother and her son.
Neighbours said the woman's oldest son has been missing since the incident. Furthermore, his mobile phone appears to be turned off. The bodies have been sent for a post-mortem examination, and the police have initiated a murder case. In June, the body of a 36-year-old woman, chopped into several pieces, was found in a flat on the seventh floor of a building in the Mira-Bhayandar area of Thane district. The victim, Saraswati Vaidya, was in a live-in relationship with a man, identified as Manoj Sahani (56), and the couple had been residing in the flat for the last three years, a senior official at the Naya Nagar police station said. Police were alerted by local residents who complained of a foul smell emanating from the flat, he said.
