Mumbai, September 7: In an extremely tragic incident, a teenager died after being hit by a javelin on his head in Maharashtra's Raigad on Wednesday. The incident took place during a practice session at a school in Mangaon Taluka at around 12:30 p.m. on September 6. The 15-year-old deceased was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

According to a report published by the Times of India, the deceased, identified as Hujefa Daware, was practising for a taluka-level meet. On the day of the incident, Hujefa was training and hurled a spear. However, another fellow student picked up the spear and threw it back. Unaware of the development, Hujefa bent down to tie his shoelace. As per the report, an accidental death case was filed under Section 147 of the Criminal Procedure Code on the complaint of Bandu Pawar, a physical training (PT) teacher. Pawar said he had been assigned as the umpire's job for the volleyball competition for the taluka-level outdoor sports competition to be held at school. He said a commotion occurred when the news of a teenager being hit by a javelin spread across the school. As per the reports, the police have gotten the CCTV video from the school playground where students were practising for a sports competition. They want to see if there was some foul play involved. They are going to find the student who threw the javelin that hurt Daware near his left eye. Once they find that student, they will interrogate him with his parents to see if he threw javelin on purpose.
