Pune, December 13: In a shocking incident, a 15-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted and killed by her step father in Maharashtra. According to a tweet by ANI, the horrific incident was reported from Bhosari area of Pune. As soon as the incident came to light, Police was alerted following which a case was registered against accused under different sections including under POCSO. Reports inform that the accused (the stepfather) is yet to be arrested.
Earlier this week, a similar incident was reported from Pune where a 67-year-old-man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 5-year old in Pimpri area. Reports inform that the man was arrested for the crime under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

A report by Indian Express stated that out of the 24,000 child rape cases registered in India this year, over 100 have been registered in the jurisdictions of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissionerate. These cases have been registered between January 1 and June this year and there has been no conviction in any of the cases till July, the report adds.
On Friday, another similar incident was reported from Haryana where a specially-abled teenaged girl was allegedly raped in Luthera village of Fatehabad. Dharambir Punia, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Fatehabad informed that a case has been registered under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) & SC/ST Act.
