Mumbai, October 4: An "online friend" allegedly called his female friend from Mumbai to his native town in Maharashtra, where he reportedly robbed and raped her. The woman, in her complaint to the Vakola police, said that her "online friend" allegedly raped her before robbing her of her personal belongings in his native town Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. The accused has been identified as Sameer Salim Sheikh.
Police officials said that the 24-year-old woman met Sheikh, a resident of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, a few months ago over an app called "Ola Party". After meeting "online", the two got close and even exchanged their mobile numbers, reports the Hindustan Times. Later, they started talking to each other frequently. 'Online Friend Threatened to Kill Me
The woman also stated that the accused threatened to kill himself if she did not come to meet him. The officer said the woman came to a hotel in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, where the accused booked a room for the two.
The officer also said the two reportedly recorded a video of them getting intimate. The accused had even promised to marry the woman. However, after getting intimate with her, the accused threatened to spread the video around. Sheikh also threatened the woman to give him all her personal belongings, including valuables and cash, which she had at the time. Even after the woman came back to Mumbai, the accused kept blackmailing her and demanded more money. Although the woman complied, she was scared of the accused sharing the video. Later, she approached cops and lodged a formal complaint against the accused, who was booked under various sections of IPC. The cops have launched a manhunt to arrest the accused.
