A man who was disturbed after a rape case was filed against him ended his life by hanging himself at his sister’s residence in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
Mumbai, October 13: A man who was disturbed after a rape case was filed against him ended his life by hanging himself at his sister’s residence in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The 25-year-old pharmacist took the extreme step on Wednesday, October 11 after he was beaten up by the victim’s brother.
According to a report in TOI, the deceased is a resident of Relgaon in Sillod Rural. He used to run a pharmacy store in the village. The 19-year-old woman who had accused him of rape also tried to end her life by consuming poison on Tuesday and is recuperating at the government medical college and hospital (GMCH). Police said that when the woman’s medico legal case was being recorded, she alleged that she had attempted to end her life after being raped. This is when the matter came into light and complaint was filed against the pharmacist. “The man had been stalking her for a few days. She said she went to his house on Monday night after he allegedly threatened to kill her brother. She said this is when she was raped,” said Sillod rural inspector S M Mehetre.
The pharmacist was earlier beaten by the rape survivor’s brother. Fearing further consequences, the pharmacist came to his sister's house in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. On learning about the case, he hanged himself. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
