Mumbai, August 4: As heavy downpour almost submerging India's financial capital and its suburbs, schools in Thane, Kalyan and Dombivli to remain shut on Monday. The order has been issued by the district administration, citing flood-like situations in the region. Earlier, similar orders were issued for Pune and Nasik.

Issuing an order for the Thane, District Collector Rajesh Narvekar stated, as quoted by news agency ANI, "Schools in Thane district will remain closed on 5th August, due to the possibility of heavy rainfall." It is to be known that for the last couple of days, Mumbai and suburbs - Thane, Palghar, Pune, Nasik and Raigarh districts have received maximum rains. Due to this, situations like flood have erupted in the region and several people have been evacuated by the National Disaster Relief Forces and Indian Air Forces. State police personnel have been appointed to help the people stuck in water-logged regions of the city.

Earlier, India Meteorological Department predicted that the situation like this is going to remain constant and the regions of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh will receive heavy rainfall for the next 24 hours. As Mumbai is already on red alert, Met Dept's latest update is going to raise several eyebrows.
