Maharashtra Monsoon Update: Cyclone Likely to Occur in Western Coast on June 11-12, Heavy Rains Expected in Mumbai

Meteorological experts have predicted that a cyclone may occur in the Arabian Sea near the west coast of India between June 11 and 12. Due to this, heavy to very heavy rains are expected during this period in coastal areas of Maharashtra.

Mumbai, June 9: With rains lashing in parts Kochi earlier today after a monsoon hit in Kerala, Meteorological experts have predicted that a cyclone may occur in the Arabian Sea near the west coast of India between June 11 and 12. Due to this, heavy to very heavy rains are expected during this period in coastal areas of Maharashtra.

Warning the fishermen not to venture out in the Arabian sea, Directorate General of Information and Public Relations of Maharashtra said, "Meteorological experts have predicted that a cyclone may occur in the Arabian Sea near the west coast of India between June 11 and 12. The cyclone will be around 300 km away from the coast of the state." Monsoon Hits Kerala Coast After Week’s Delay, Says IMD

Adding on, it also informed that monsoon will arrive in Mumbai with this cyclone. The department said, "Meteorological experts have predicted that monsoon will enter in Mumbai along with Konkan during this period. Meteorology department has appealed to fishermen to avoid entering in the Arabian Sea on June 11-12."

With the heat gaining momentum over the last couple of days and reservoirs becoming dry, farmers have been praying for rains. Meanwhile, the state government had advised farmers not to worry and have faith in government policies.
