Alibaug, October 26: In a horrific incident in Maharashtra, a 26-year-old man allegedly killed his mother on the occasion of Dussehra for not serving him food on time. The incident took place on Tuesday, October 24, in Alibaug Taluka. The accused has been identified as Jayesh Namdev Khot. The incident occurred on Tuesday night when he killed his mother for serving him dinner late.

According to a report in the Hindustan Times, Khot is an ITI graduate but unemployed and lives in Navkhar. On Tuesday night, he was waiting to have his dinner. However, when his mother, identified as Changuna, served him food late, he got furious. "During the fight, the son first assaulted the mother with a stick and then dragged her outside the house and assaulted her with a sickle and then put her on ablaze by using dried leaves and grass," an officer from Raigad said. When his neighbours started to gather, Khot rushed to the nearby woods with the sickle.

The local rushed Khot's mother to Alibag Civil Hospital, where she succumbed to her burn injuries on Wednesday night, October 25. Soon, cops were alerted, who reached the crime scene and rushed to the woods to nab the accused. However, after around 2 hours, the police managed to arrest the accused. The police registered a case against Khot under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by the use of a dangerous weapon), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
