Kalyan, July 25: A shocking attack took place on Tuesday evening, July 23, in Kalyan when a group of seven to eight assailants armed with knives and swords targeted Nilesh Jadhav, a 37-year-old lawyer, and his associate, Sagar Tembhe. This assault occurred around 9 PM as they were returning from Jadhav’s office at Prem Auto in Kalyan (West). The attack is believed to be a retaliatory action linked to Jadhav's recent allegations of corruption concerning compensation payments for the Mumbai-Delhi Highway project.

According to a report by Time of India, Jadhav, who had recently exposed alleged corruption involving around INR 200 crore in compensation payments related to the Mumbai-Delhi Highway project, had reportedly received threats prior to the attack. As per the report, Jadhav had publicly accused senior revenue officials of embezzling the amount intended for land compensation. The attack left Jadhav with significant head injuries, and he was subsequently taken to a private hospital in Mumbai for treatment. Tembhe also sustained injuries and was admitted to a hospital in Kalyan. The incident drew a crowd, prompting the attackers to flee the scene. The police are investigating the incident from all possible angles to determine the motive and bring the perpetrators to justice. As reported by Time of India, Jadhav’s wife believes the assault was directly related to his exposure of corruption in the highway project, and she has called for swift action by the authorities.
