Maharashtra Government to Purchase Land in Pahalgam, Leh to Build Resorts: Report

Nearly a month after the Centre scrapped the special status of Jammu and Kashmir by abrogating certain provisions of Article 370, Maharashtra government on Tuesday said that it is planning to buy land for two resorts in the area. The Maharashtra government will also conduct a land survey to identify the location for the resorts.

Mumbai, September 3: Nearly a month after the Centre scrapped the special status of Jammu and Kashmir by abrogating certain provisions of Article 370, Maharashtra government on Tuesday said that it is planning to buy land for building two resorts in the newly-formed union territories. According to a report published in CNN News18, the state government will invest Rs two crore for building the resorts for providing accommodation for Amarnath Yatra and Vaishno Devi pilgrims. On August 5, the Narendra Modi government at the Centre revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. Prior to this, outsiders were not allowed to buy land in Jammu and Kashmir without approval from the state Assembly, The state was also divided into two union territories – Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The Central government said that the UT state of Jammu and Kashmir will be temporary, while Leh will remain under the governance of the Central government permanently. The UT status will applicable from October 31.
