Mumbai, November 23: The Supreme Court will hear the joint petition filed by Shiv Sena, Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) at 11:30 am on Sunday. The writ petition was filed against the decision of Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari inviting Devendra Fadnavis to take oath as Chief Minister on November 23. In the petition, all the three parties have requested the apex court to direct the governor to hold the floor test tomorrow. Senior Advocate Devadutt Kamat, who is representing Congress-NCP-Shiv Sena, said, “In our petition, we requested SC for an urgent direction for a Floor Test to be held tomorrow itself. We are hopeful the Supreme Court will hear us. Meanwhile, the NCP supremo at a press conference said that his nephew’s decision to support the BJP was personal and the party did not endorse it. According to reports, most of the MLAs who were present at the oath-taking ceremony has returned to Sharad Pawar’s camp. However, the BJP claimed that it has the number to prove majority. A day after the Congress and the NCP backed Uddhav Thackeray as the CM of Maharashtra, Fadnavis with the support of the Ajit Pawar-led NCP stake claim to form the government. The opposition also accused the state governor of bypassing all norms and regulations by inviting Fadnavis to take oath as the CM.
