Maharashtra Floods: NH4 Reopens For Heavy Vehicles And SUVs at Kolhapur-Sangli Phata

Flood-affected National Highway (NH) 4 has re-opened for heavy vehicles and SUVs at Kolhapur-Sangli Phata. The highway connects Mumbai to Bengaluru via Kolhapur. On Sunday, the bridge reopened and it was mainly used for transporting essential supplies to Kolhapur.

Mumbai, August 12: Flood-affected National Highway (NH) 4 has re-opened for heavy vehicles and SUVs at Kolhapur-Sangli Phata on Monday in Maharashtra. The highway connects Mumbai to Bengaluru via Kolhapur. Reportedly, an audit check will be done on the Panchganga bridge after normal traffic gets restored on the highway. On Sunday, the bridge reopened and it was mainly used for transporting essential supplies to Kolhapur. The prices of essential items like drinking water, milk, food have skyrocketed in flood-affected areas like Sangli.

The Kolhapur district administration on Sunday has issued warning to the traders against selling products/commodities at increased prices. The administration has also put out dedicated phone numbers for registration of complaints if anyone trader or seller is found to engage in such activity. Citizens are requested to call on 1077 and 2655416 for any such complaint.

In several parts of Maharashtra, including Sangli, Kolhapur, Raigad, Satara have floods have wreaked havoc, throwing normal life out of gear. In one of the biggest operations, various government agencies and the armed forces have rescued and evacuated around 75,000 flood-affected people, including 66,000 from the worst affected Kolhapur and Sangli districts, officials informed.
