Mumbai, July 29: A video footage has come to the fore showing cattle being washed in guishing rain water. The clip was shot earlier on Monday in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district, where rains have continued over the past few days. In the footage, a group of cattle could be seen being pushed to the brink in the flood water. The bovines attempted to swim to the nearest corner, but by the time the footage ended, they were seen completely drowned.

The rainfall system has intensified in Maharashtra over the past week, with the state's Thane district recording unprecedented rainfall over the weekend. Heavy rains caused flash floods in the region, where hundreds of marooned people were rescued from a train.
The Kolhapur-bound Mahalaxmi Express was left stranded with over 900 passengers on Saturday in Badlapur, following heavy rainfall. Teams of the NDRF, Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, Army, Railways and state administration were pressed in to rescue the passengers.
According to weather experts, the Monsoon is expected to further regain strength across the nation, with the El-Nino effect subsiding. The worst-affected states due to the incessent rainfall are Bihar and Assam, where the combined death toll has climbed to nearly 200.
