Mumbai, November 24: In a shocking case from Maharashtra, a police sub-inspector went absconding after he was booked for raping and blackmailing a rape survivor. The accused inspector was investigating the survivor's case from last one year, reported Times of India. The accused inspector was identified as 34-year-old Rohan Ganjari posted in Bhiwandi's Kongaon police station.
The officer was handling a case of the 26-year-old woman, who claimed that her boyfriend's name was added to the First Information Report (FIR) against her will. According to the case, In 2015, the survivor met 28-year-old Satish, they soon became close friends and established a physical relationship. Later, when Satish's ex-girlfriend Rabiya came to know about his ongoing affair, she started threatening the survivor. Later, Rabiya invited the survivor at his home and served her drinks laced with drugs.
The woman allegedly that Rabiya's friends raped her and also reported that video of the incident was shot. Meanwhile, Rabiya began to blackmail the survivor and demanded Rs 50,000. When survivor went to lodge the complaint against Rubiya and her friends in Kongaon police station about the rape. The cops also added Satish's name in the FIR. After which Ganjari demanded sexual favour for removing Satish's name from FIR. Kangaon Police officials told TOI that Ganjari went absconding after the woman filed a complaint against him.
