Sidhi, May 25: Between January and May of this year, at least seven tribal girls in Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh were raped by a man who posed as a female teacher using a 'voice-changing' app, manipulated these vulnerable girls into meeting him at deserted locations under the guise of discussing scholarships and raped them.
According to a report in Times of India, four cases have been registered against the accused. Five survivors have come forward in these four cases. Shockingly, one girl, accompanied by a minor, was also raped by the accused. The total number of victims may be even higher, cops said. Notably, all survivors reported incidents of rape, but no gangrape cases have been reported yet. The police apprehended the main accused, Brajesh Prajapati who had been using the voice-changing app to deceive the girls. Technical analysis revealed a similar pattern of interaction with other girls. Two accomplices of the accused have also been arrested. The investigation is still ongoing. Cops said that the accused would call students, pretending to be a female teacher responsible for their scholarships. He instructed them to meet at specific locations for verification purposes. The unsuspecting girls arrived, assuming they were meeting a genuine female teacher.
There he would introduce them as the son of the female teacher and take them on his motorcycle on the pretext of meeting the teacher. He then used to take them to a deserted house in his farmland and rape them.
All the survivors so far are from scheduled caste communities. The SC and ST students are provided with scholarships for studies by the state government and the accused called those girls who were looking after their scholarships.
