Indore, May 16: In an incident that is gaining widespread criticism, a youth and two of his female cousins which included a minor, were beaten mercilessly after they were tied to a tree. The "punishment" was meted out to the man and two of his cousins as the man had eloped with a married woman. According to a report in The Times of India, the husband of the woman who was thrashed was also involved in beating the victims.

The two girls were beaten as they allegedly helped the woman to run away from her house. Shockingly, the villagers who numbered in hundreds watched the whole episode unfold in front of their eyes and still nobody came forward to help the distressed man and his cousins.

A video clip doing rounds on social media show some children and women laughing while they were getting beaten.

When one of the girls tried to stop a man from beating her, a person from the crowd came forward and twisted her arm. Nine people have been booked by Police in connection with the case. Four accused are on the run. The Police have also registered a case under POCSO.
