Bhopal, August 20: Intelligence agencies have warned the Madhya Pradesh police of the possible presence of four "Afghani terrorists" in the state. Based on the intel inputs, a high alert has been sounded in eight districts of the state, bordering with Rajasthan and Gujarat. An extensive search operation has been launched to nab the suspects.

Reports citing police officials claimed that the four suspects were last traced in Rajasthan and Gujarat. The sketch of one of the suspects has been prepared and shared with all police stations in the districts where the alert has been sounded. Intelligence Bureau Issued Terror Alert in Jammu and Kashmir and Other Places in India Ahead of Eid al-Adha 2019

Jhabua district police superintendent Vineet Jain, while speaking to reporters, said the suspect whose sketch has been published is believed to be from Afghanistan's Kunar province.

Police-check posts have been placed at all key routes in  in Jhabua, Alirajpur, Dhar and Barwani districts which border Gujarat, along with the districts of Ratlam, Mandsaur, Neemuch and Agar-Malwa which border with Rajasthan.

The alert comes nearly a week after 31-year-old Jahirul Shaikh, a suspected terrorist, was nabbed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials in Indore. Shaikh is accused of being involved in the blast carried out in West Bengal's Burdwan in October 2014.
