Bhopal, April 26: A shocking incident of rape and murder has come to light from Madhya Pradesh, where a minor girl was allegedly raped and killed in Rewa. The alleged rape-cum-murder occurred on the night of Tuesday, April 23, in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district. The horrific crime against the minor girl triggered protests by the victim's family members and local residents.

According to a report in the Times of India, the alleged incident took place on Tuesday night when the minor girl was sleeping in the courtyard with her brother. Police officials said that the victim's mother and her two sisters were sleeping inside the house. Minor Girl Found Dead in Courtyard

Cops said that the elder sister was shocked to see her sister lying dead in the corner of the courtyard. Soon, the police were alerted. They reached the spot and began an investigation. Vivek Kumar Lal, Additional SP, said that it appeared as if an acquaintance raped the minor girl and strangled her later.

Police Suspect Acquaintance Involvement

Meanwhile, the police have launched a probe into the matter. Two days after the incident, the victim's family members and local residents staged a protest and blocked the busy Jawa intersection. As the situation on the ground became tense, additional reinforcements were summoned from nearby police stations. The police have assured action and persuaded the protesters to call off the protest.
