Bhopal, July 22: In a shocking incident, a man in Madhya Pradesh was beaten up by a group of people allegedly for smuggling cattle. According to a tweet by ANI, the man was thrashed by a mob in Jabalpur's Katni town on Sunday. As soon as the incident was reported, police rushed to the spot to take a stock of the situation. Reports quoted ASP Sandeep Mishra saying that the man carrying 30 cattle in the truck was arrested by police personnel and the cattle was seized.
An investigation into the matter has been initiated. "The truck carrying 30 cattle was seized by police personnel. A man has been arrested. We'll conduct a thorough investigation & take strict action", Mishra added.

In the last week, an incident of mob lynching was reported from Bihar where three men were beaten to death by locals on suspicion of cattle smuggling. According to reports by ANI, the incident took place in Baniyapur in Saran district on Friday. The bodies of the three victims were sent for postmortem.
Earlier this month, a BSF constable was critically injured after being attacked by a group of 25 cattle smugglers from Bangladesh. According to reports, the smugglers from Bangladesh made a forcible attempt to smuggle about 10-15 cattle into Bangladesh through Border Out Post-Angrail in West Bengal.
