Madhya Pradesh Couple Thrashed, Made to Eat Human Excreta Over Suspicion of Practising Witchcraft
A couple from the tribal region of Madhya Pradesh were forced to eat human excreta by the villagers over the suspicion of practising black magic.
Shivpuri, October 23: A couple from the tribal region of Madhya Pradesh was thrashed and forced to eat human excreta by the villagers over the suspicion of practising black magic. First, the man was dragged out of his house in Sarwani village of Shivpuri district, tied to the tree and thrashed by the villagers. The attackers alleged that the couple - Prem Singh and his wife Ramawati - were indulged in witchcraft. The villagers claimed that the duo was indulging in practising black magic due to which their neighbour, Aarti, died. Aarti's father-in-law Angad Singh also blamed the black magic for her death. Later, Prem went to the local police station and registered a complaint against Angad and his sons. The accused have been arrested and booked under the various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
In a similar case earlier this year, a 68-year-old man was thrashed to death by a mob over the suspicions of practising black magic. The villagers alleged that the man used to practise witchcraft, due to which the family member of one of the villagers was not well. The victim was identified as Momin and was beaten to death while his family members were severely injured when they tried to save him. Based on a complaint by Momin's son the accused had been arrested and booked under the various sections.
