Betul, June 16: A shocking incident of violence unfolded at Government Jaywanti Haksar (JH) PG College in Betul, Madhya Pradesh, on Friday afternoon. Assistant Professor Neeraj Dhakad, from the Sanskrit department, was brutally attacked on campus by a group of five to seven assailants armed with sticks and chilli powder.
TOI reported that the attackers, led by former student Annu Thakur, stormed into the college premises targeting Professor Dhakad. Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants threw chilli powder into Dhakad's eyes before assaulting him with rods until he lost consciousness. The motive behind this attack is believed to stem from a previous argument between Dhakad and Thakur over alleged irregularities in the college's scholarship program. Superintendent of Police Nischal Jharia confirmed that a case of attempted murder has been registered and authorities are working to apprehend the suspects. Medical reports revealed that Professor Dhakad sustained severe injuries, including fractures to his head, hands, and legs. From his hospital bed, Dhakad recounted the harrowing experience, "I was discussing student projects when suddenly five boys entered, threw chilli powder, and started hitting me with sticks. I recognized them; they were Annu Thakur's men. Their intention was to kill me."
The altercation reportedly began when Thakur was caught misusing Dhakad's official seal and letterhead, leading to a confrontation.
