Madhya Pradesh: 7 Children, Driver Killed as School Bus Collides With Van in Satna

Bhopal, November 22: In a fatal road accident in Madhya Pradesh, 7 children and the driver of their school bus was killed after colliding with a van in Satna district on Thursday morning. Apart from the above-mentioned fatalities, 8 other children in the ill-fated bus incurred severe injuries.

The students who met the accident belong to Lucky Convent School, located in Birsinghpur of Satna district. Officials speaking to news agency PTI has confirmed the 7 fatalities, while assuring that all possible medical aid is being extended to the injured survivors.
"As per reports, at least seven school children travelling in the school van and its driver were killed in the accident," Satna district police official Santosh Singh Gaur was quoted as saying.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed sorrow over the demise of school children, as well as the bus driver. He extended condolences to the bereaved families on Twitter.
Madhya Pradesh is one of the states in India which are unsafe for road commutation. As per the data shared by the Ministry of Road Transport, a total of 57,532 accidents were recorded in MP, out of which -- 10,177 were fatal.
