Singrauli, July 30: A three-year-old toddler in the Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh tragically slipped into a 250-feet borewell while playing in a field on Monday, July 29. Upon being informed, officials promptly launched a rescue operation. According to PTI, the girl died after an extensive rescue operation. According to reports, she was stuck at 25 feet.
Singrauli SP Nivedita Gupta told PTI that Soumya Shah was playing with a goat in her family's cornfield. The field contained an 8–9-year-old borewell that had been covered. The family had been ploughing and farming on that field each year. However, due to rainwater, the hole became deeper and eventually collapsed, causing the girl to fall into it. "Rescue efforts for the girl have been ongoing since 4:30 PM. All the machinery has arrived. We are now trying to reach the girl manually," added Nivedita Gupta. The team excavated the borewell and reached the girl with the help of JCBs. However, after the rescue operation, the girl was found dead. Similar incidents occurred in Gujarat and Bihar recently. In Surgapara village, Gujarat's Amreli, a toddler fell into a 45–50-feet borewell and was pulled out after a 15-hour operation; he was sadly declared dead by doctors. In Bihar, a three-year-old boy fell into a 40-feet borewell while playing in Kul village, Nalanda, and was rescued.
