Bhopal, January 27: A two-year-old child fall into a borewell in Kerhar village of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday. The incident raised alarms across the Singrauli district, with the authorities dispatching the rescue workers to retrieve the child alive. The rescue operation was underway by the time this report was published.

The incident comes in the backdrop of a mining tragedy in Meghalaya, where 15 individuals have died after getting trapped into rat-holes. The fatal mines, being illegally dug, are located in East Jaintia Hills district. On the orders of the Supreme Court, the state government and the Centre are leaving no stones unturned to retrieve the corpse. So far, only one body has been recovered by the Indian Navy. The deceased, identified as Amir Hussain, a resident of West Assam, was among the 15 miners who got trapped inside a rat-hole nearly 45 days ago.
