A 'Chunri Yatra' was organized on Sunday from Bada Ganpati Temple to Bijbasan Temple in Indore, carrying a 2-km-long red-coloured ‘chunri’. The five kilometres procession was organised to pledge for a plastic-free India.
Indore, October 6: A 'Chunri Yatra' was organized on Sunday from Bada Ganpati Temple to Bijbasan Temple in Indore, carrying a 2-km-long red-coloured ‘chunri’. The five kilometres procession was organised to pledge for a plastic-free India. Former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and Thawar Chand Gehlot also joined the yatra as chief guest. The journey which started from Bada Ganpati temple saw the participation of hundreds of men and women. After this, the yatra reached Bijasan temple. Interestingly, it is also the Durga Ashtami or Maha Ashtami. one of the auspicious days of the five days long Durga Puja Festival. The 2 km long Chunri Yatra started from Bada Ganpati temple and passed through Piliyakhal, Agrasen Nagar, Ramchandra Nagar Square, Kalani Nagar Square, Vidyadham Temple before culminating at Bijasan temple. The chunri was offered to the goddess there.
