Singrauli, July 23: In the latest development in the lynching of a metally retarded woman in Madhya Pradesh’s Singrauli district, the police have arrested 12 people in connection with the case. According to the police, two people are still absconding. During a media briefing, police officials gave assure to nab the culprits who are absconding soon. The investigation in the case is underway.
The 25-year-old mentally challenged woman was allegedly lynched by a mob in Morwa region of Singrauli district on July 22 on suspicion of being a child lifter. Investigating officer, Narendra Raghuvanshi said that they received a complaint that a body of a woman was found in a drain of a nursery near the forest area. "We received an information on July 20 that a body of a woman was found in a drain in a nursery. She was not looking mentally stable. The woman died due to a head injury," said Raghuvanshi.

According to reports, the woman ran to the forest to save her life, but some of the villagers followed her and beaten her to death. Later, they dragged her body out of the forest. The officer also said that they are trying to make people aware not to believe in such rumours. As per reports, the woman was being seen in the area for the past six months and her images were circulated on WhatsApp alleging her to be a child lifter.
