Kupwara, November 8: An Indian Army’s Captain-rank officer and three soldiers, including a Border Security Force (BSF) constable, were martyred during an anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district. In the encounter, three terrorists were killed in the encounter in Machil sector of the district along the Line of Control (LoC). The BSF constable has been identified as Sudip Sarkar. Martyred Captain Ashutosh Kumar was from 18 Madras regiment. Other martyred Army soldiers have been identified as Naik Praveen and Sepoy Maheshwar. Jammu And Kashmir: Two Terrorists Neutralised by Security Forces in Encounter in Pulwama's Dadoora Area.

According to reports, it is one of the biggest encounters in Jammu and Kashmir since April this year. A joint operation was conducted by the Indian Army and the BSF following an intelligence input of the presence of heavily armed terrorists in the area. The operation is currently underway.

The operation started after suspicious movement of unidentified people was detected by patrolling party at Machil Sector (J&K) on intervening night of November 7 and 8. Terrorists trying to infiltrate were then intercepted by the security forces.  The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained. Jammu And Kashmir: Two Terrorists Killed by Security Forces in Encounter in Pulwama's Awantipora.

The Indian Army said, "Two AKs with two magazines and 60 rounds of bullets, one pistol with two magazines and 29 rounds of bullets, one radio set, Rs 50,000 Indian currency and administrative stores seized. Joint operation underway."

On Friday, A terrorist was killed while another surrendered before security forces during an encounter in Pulwama district of the Union Territory. As per J&K police, security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in Lalpora area of Pampore in the south Kashmir district on Thursday following information about the presence of terrorists in the area.
