Punjab, September 7: In a shocking incident has come to light from Ludhiana where a woman, allegedly depressed over her married life, set her three-and-a-half-year-old son on fire after pouring synthetic motor oil on the toddler. The Times of India reported that the toddler suffered 60 percent burns after the incident.

As per the reports, the accused, identified as Rupinder Kaur, has been booked by the Khanna police and a case of an attempt to murder has been filed against her. Following the incident, the victim has since been referred to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. The doctors said that the condition of the kid is critical as he suffered more than 60% burns.

Reportedly, the accused’s mother, Manjit Kaur registered a complaint against her daughter. Kaur, in her statement, said her daughter was often upset because of her marital disputes and had been living with them at their house. On September 2, the accused allegedly poured motor oil on her son and set the toddler on fire. Meanwhile, the accused is yet to be arrested. A case under section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act has been lodged against the accused.
