Jalandhar, August 31: In a shocking crime, a Jalandhar resident allegedly murdered the elderly father of a woman living in Australia after she refused to marry him. The accused, identified as Ranjit Singh Kahlon, along with his nephew Baljinder Singh, alias Gulli, committed the crime and later dumped the body in bushes at Pandori village near Dakha, Ludhiana.

Indian Express reported that the victim, 78-year-old Ravinder Singh Paul, was a retired LIC agent who lived alone in Dugri, Ludhiana. His body was discovered on August 29 after his son, Vikram Saggar, identified it at the Civil Hospital. Saggar had filed a missing person report when his father failed to return home. Punjab Shocker: Man Suffers Gunshot Wound, Two Others Injured After Fight Between Groups in Phagwara.

The crime’s motive traces back to Ranjit’s obsession with the victim's daughter, Kirandeep, who resides in Australia. The two had become acquainted through TikTok, and Ranjit had traveled to Australia in March to live with her. However, after Kirandeep discovered his abusive behaviour and alcohol addiction, she filed a complaint against him, leading to his deportation back to India in June. Punjab Shocker: Chaos at Wedding as Guest Misbehave With Woman Dancer, Throw Glass at Her in Sarmala (Watch Video).

Despite being deported, Ranjit attempted to return to Australia earlier this month but was denied entry. On August 25, Ranjit and his nephew allegedly traveled to Ludhiana and strangled Ravinder Singh Paul in an act of revenge. Ranjit later informed Kirandeep of the murder through a WhatsApp message and phone call, expressing his apologies.

The police have arrested Gulli, who has confessed to the crime. Ranjit, a local Punjabi singer, remains at large. The FIR has been registered under sections 103 (1) (murder) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code at the Dakha police station.
