Ludhiana, August 28: Residents of a locality in Ludhiana dumped garbage and sewage waste at an office of the Municipal Corporation, protesting against unsanitary conditions and overflowing sewers. The incident happened at the Zone B office of the Ludhiana Nagar Nigam, where residents of Prem Nagar, Ishwar Colony and other adjoining areas dumped garbage.

Reports say that the Municipal Corporation officials have filed a complaint with the police. Officials reportedly claimed that the protesters were throwing garbage at them and were misbehaving. On the other hand, the protesters have alleged that they were beaten up by MC officials with lathis.

According to a report in the Tribune, residents claimed that they had been complaining about overflowing sewage in their area for the past four months, but no action was taken by the authorities.

Earlier last month, Ludhiana residents also complained of major waterlogging issues whenever it rained, even for a couple of hours.
