Ludhiana, October 5: The Ludhiana police today, October 5, conducted a search operation at a school after the institution received a bomb threat email on Friday evening, October 4. After the search, cops said that a 15-year-old city boy and his online gaming friend from Bihar allegedly sent the bomb-threatening e-mail to the school principal. In its email, the duo allegedly threatened to blow up the school with a bomb.
Speaking about the incident, Harjinder Singh, ACP (South), said that the Ludhiana-based student is a YouTuber. Singh also said that the 15-year-ol boy reportedly met his online friend from Bihar on the chatting platform "Discord", where the two discuss strategies about Free Fire India, a game which they play together online. After conducting a search at the Sri Guru Harkrishan Adarsh Senior Secondary School, Dhandra, the police started probing the matter. The police checked the IP address from which the school's principal received the threatening mail. They learned that a Class 9 student of the school had sent the mail to the principal. Cops also found the number of the student's online friend from Bihar, as the same was connected to his system.
During the investigation, cops learned that the bomb-threatening email was a "prank" played by the student and his online friend. During questioning, the student told cops that sending the bomb-threatening email was his friend's idea, who was from Bihar. He also said that he was not on board with the idea and even tried to delete the mail after it was sent "by mistake." As the Class 9 student was a juvenile, cops sent him home but later called him for questioning again today, October 5. ACP Singh said that the student was released after he admitted to the prank.
