Lucknow, October 26: Lucknow police arrested a man impersonating as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army for forgery and misusing the army uniform on October 24. According to a report published in The Times of India, the 40-year-old Arvind Mishra had been staying in Lucknow for the last one year and had created a fake Facebook profile in the name of Lt Col Rahul Mishra. He also posted photographs in the army uniform. According to the report, officials of Directorate of Military Intelligence (DMI) are also interrogating Mishra. Apart from revolvers and pistols, a white car with the emblem of 1/11 Gorkha Rifles was recovered from the accused. The police also seized his bank passbooks, laptops and mobile phones. “For the past 15 days, we had been getting various complaints from girls about being duped by an army officer. He also cheated many women on matrimonial sites impersonating as an army officer. The Lucknow police nabbed Mishra through surveillance and assistance from DMI. He was stooped at Hazratganj and asked about his identity. After a few questions, he was exposed. The accused is an MBA degree holder and had worked in a private company till 2017. During an investigation, he confessed that for a lavish lifestyle and money he impersonated as an army officer.

It is not the first case when someone impersonated as an army official. Earlier this month, a man impersonating as an Indian Army soldier was arrested for allegedly duping people to the tune of Rs six lakh, reported TOI. The accused Manjunath Reddy, a resident of Harihara, used to take money from various Indian Army soldiers to get them benefits of various schemes run by the government.
