Lucknow, May 1: In a tragic accident reported in the early hours of Wednesday from the Uttar Pradesh capital, a family of five members was killed in blaze which erupted inside their house. Among the deceased includes the youngest family member, a 6-month-old infant girl. Their charred bodies have been recovered by the firefighters.

The incident was reported at around 6am in the morning, in the congested Indira Nagar locality of Lucknow. Dense smokes along with flames were spotted by locals emerging from the second storey of Ram Vihar Phase II building. Subsequently, the fire brigade was alert which sent 6 fire tenders to douse the flames. Fire Breaks Out at Residential Building in Navi Mumbai's Airoli

Residents claim that the fire tenders were late by nearly an hour due to the narrow lanes of Indira Nagar. Volunteers and locals also joined the rescue operation, but the victims could not be saved.

Chief Fire Officer VK Singh said the fire was doused off within an hour, adding that an inquiry would be conducted to ascertain the exact cause of the blaze.

The identities of four among the five deceased have been confirmed: They are: OP Singh (6O), Sumit (40), Julie (42) and her six-months-old daughter Baby.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep condolences on the death of a family, and has asked the Lucknow Commissioner to prepare a report within 7 days and act against any official if they are foundresponsoble for negligence.
