Kalaburagi, November 30: Paving the way for an inter-caste marriage, Kalaburagi Bench of the Karnataka High Court ordered the release of a Muslim girl, Nashwa Taha Sehena, from the State Home for Women hostel and directed police to provide security to Sehena and her Hindu boyfriend as they were facing threats. Going back to case, Sehena's boyfriend, Sukesh Pawar filed a petition in the court that they both intended to marry and were facing threats from the woman's relatives and their community leaders. On October 11, the couple had visited the women police station in Kalaburagi seeking security, while police said Pawar to visit next day and asked Sehena to stay back in the police station to ensure her security. First Inter-Caste Transgender Marriage Will be Registered in Kerala in May This Year.

When Pawar visited the police station next day, he came to know that his girlfriend had been illegally detained by the State Home for Women's officials under the influence of woman's mother, who is an government employee. When state women officials repeatedly refused to release Sehena, her boyfriend filed the Habeas Corpus Writ Petition in court, reported The HinduTelangana Honour Killing: Understanding India's Bloodiest Tradition To Uphold Honour.

On November 29, the court heard the woman's opinion where she declared she wanted to live with Pawar leaving her family behind. However, the court directed Sehena to keep ties with her mother and said she should visit her often.
