Hyderabad, October 1: In a tragic incident, two students in a Telangana school set themselves on fire over a love affair with the same girl, who was apparently their classmate. According to reports, the shocking incident took place in Telangana’s Jagtial town where two schoolboys set themselves on fire on Sunday evening after discovering that they loved the same girl. According to a report by Hindustan Times, both the boys were 16 years old and went to private school in Jagtial, about 200 km towards the north of Hyderabad. The two boys, identified as K. Details by Police inform Mahender died on the spot while Ravi, who sustained critical injuries succumbed in a hospital. Police said that the two boys went to a deserted place near the town’s Mission Compound and consumed alcohol before dousing themselves with petrol which they had brought with them. Police investigating the incident found beer bottles and mobile phones at the scene. However, the police were still trying to ascertain if it was a murder or suicide. The incident came to light after passers-by heard the cries of the two boys. The locals immediately rushed to the spot and managed to rush them to a local area hospital. While Mahender died on the way, Ravi had sustained 85% burns, who was then shifted to Karimnagar district hospital, where he succumbed to the burns late in the night.

Jagtial town circle police inspector Prakash was quoted in the HT report saying that the preliminary inquiries revealed that a love affair with a common girlfriend could be the reason for the incident. However, the family members also suspected the involvement of a third person in the incident.
