Lord Hanuman Was an 'Aryan', Says Union HRD Minister Satyapal Singh

After controversial comments by UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Union HRD Minister Satyapal Singh claims Lord Hanuman was an Aryan and belonged to Aryan tribe

New Delhi, December 1: The debate over Lord Hanuman’s caste is not over yet. Union Minister of State for HRD Dr Satyapal Singh on Friday claimed that Lord Hanuman was an Aryan and belonged to the Arya tribe. He was of the opinion that during period of Lord Rama, there was no prevailing caste system in the country.

Expressing his opinion the issue, the former Mumbai Commissioner said to media, “Hanumanji was an Aryan. I have cleared it that during that period there was Arya tribe and Hanumanji was a saint of Arya tribe (Hanuman ji arya theyy. Adding on he claimed that during the period of Lord Rama, there was no caste or tribe system in the country. Also, he was of the opinion that nobody was marginalised or discriminated on the basis of caste or tribe. Singh said, “Bhgwan Ram aur Hanuman ji ke yug mein, iss desh mein koi jaati-vyavastha nahi thi, koi dalit, vanchit, soshit nahi tha. Valmiki Ramayan aur Ramcharitmanas ko aap agar padhenge to aapko malum chalega ki uss samay koi jaati-vyavasthan nahi thi.

Earlier on June, Singh had challenged the Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution and claimed it to be wrong. He had said, “I believe that my ancestors were not apes.”

The whole debate took off with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath while addressing a political rally in Malakheda of Alwar district had said that Lord Hanuman was a forest dweller, deprived and a Dalit. He had said, “Hanuman was a forest dweller, deprived and a Dalit. Bajrang Bali worked to connect all Indian communities together, from north to south and east to west.”

Soon after the controversial comment, a right-wing group in Rajasthan had sent a legal notice to the UP CM and asked him to apologise within three days for allegedly calling Lord Hanuman a Dalit. Yogi Adityanath Gets Legal Notice for Calling Hanuman Dalit

Also, a day after Adityanath made the comment, another leader – NCST Chief Nand Kumar Sai claimed that Lord Hunuman was a tribal. He had said that Hanuman was a ‘gotra’ among tribals, and was not a Dalit.
